Before sending any money, always request at least a FaceTime or live video call. Scammers frequently target families searching for Maine Coons, and many people have told me they’ve lost thousands—sometimes upwards of $5,000. If a “breeder” pushes you to pay first, without verifying anything, that’s a major red flag.
Maine Coons are in high demand and easily recognizable, making them a prime target for scammers who steal photos and pretend the cats are theirs.
